First and second free practice session

1 - Klaus Ludwig "My fastest lap was quite alright, although I made a
little mistake which cost me some tenths of a second. So I think, a time
half a second faster or even something around 2:07...minutes might be
possible for me this afternoon. Even the top-speed of the car is faster
as the engine seems to be more powerful than it was before."

17 - Ellen Lohr "This weekend seems to begin better than the last one.
But when I went out near the end of session one on new tyres to do a
fast lap, my ABS stopped working and I had to return into the pits.
In session two I hadn't done more than three laps before my exhaust
manyfold broke and i had to come back to the pits."

20 - JJ Lehto "This was quite nice, concerning that I haven't got
all the new parts my team-mates have got", said Lehto after the
first session. "But already now I'm sure, that there will be only
one possibility to achieve a Top 15 position: If I get a nice
slipstream-support by somebody else." After session two (fifth position
for Lehto) the Fin seemed really surprised: "I don't know, where this
improvement came from, I just did several good laps. Nevertheless it's
very difficult here in Hockenheim. On one hand you have to save the
tyres for the race, on the other hand the tyres need two laps to start
working as they should."

9 - Manuel Reuter "Now we know, I got a slipped disc, but I'm gonna
race this weekend, that's for sure. There will be so many Opel fans at
the track, I don't want to disappoint them. The second session wasn't
very satisfying, as I could do only a few laps before I was stopped by
a gearbox failure. So I couldn't do as planned and go out on the tyres,
which I will use for the qualifying and race one. Now I just can hope,
that my set-up and the tyres will fit together."

19 - Michael Bartels "I was stopped by another broken engine. What else
can I say."

14 - Bernd Schneider "I was very surprised, that I was that fast.
Nevertheless I hope that it will go faster this afternoon. But - of
course - only for me, not for the others."

6 - Kurt Thiim "In session one I didn't do one single fast lap. This
was just a systems check, as the car wasn't repaired before yesterday
evening after the Magny-Cours accident. In session two we were faster,
but I'm not sure, if we're on the right way. We got to make some
progress for the qualifying. My transmission didn't fit very well, so we
will change this definitely. But there's some more work to be done."

2 - Keke Rosberg "Session one was really alright, but in the second
session me and Yannick Dalmas had to watch a heavy shunt. We were going
side by side, when one of the silver Mercedes tried to drive between us.
Then there was a contact between him and myself and off he went at 300
km/h. He was lucky that he didn't overturn."

5 - Dario Franchitti "Keke and Yannick were going side by side at half
speed in front of the third chicane. Maybe, they were just playing
around. Then they went one behind the other and I wanted to pass Keke on
the right, when he suddenly moved over and pushed me on the grass. There
was definitely no way out for me. But I'm alright and it seems, the car
will be repaired in time for the qualifying."

11 - Christian Danner "In session one I had just finished my first lap,
when a fuel pressure problem appeared. Session two didn't end much
better, I had to be pulled into the pit lane after an engine trouble."

7 - Alessandro Nannini "All two sessions were quite alright. There
were only some small brake problems and the balance of the car wasn't
perfect. Nothing, which can't be solved until this afternoon."

10 - Yannick Dalmas "We tried several set-ups and did a good analysis
between the sessions. So we worked into the right direction and I hope
on a good qualifying now."
