Persistent rain showers throughout the day Saturday forced
postponement of the Burnham Boilers/Dodge Dealers NASCAR
200 Busch North Grand National stock car race scheduled
for the Lime Rock Park sports car course in northwestern
Connecticut.
The 82 lap, 200km/125 mile race has been re-scheduled for
Saturday October 21 at 1 p.m.; there will be a short
warmup session in the morning following NASCAR tech.
inspection.
Lou Rettenmeier of Oxford CT, a three time SCCA National
Champion, will start on the pole position in his Busch
North debut. Rettenmeier time-trialed second fastest
and was elevated to the number one slot when Kim
Baker was disqualified for a technical infraction
involving an unapproved differentail assembly. Defending
NASCAR race winner at Lime Rock Butch Leitzinger will
start in 36th and last starting position after missing
time trials with a blown engine and finally earning a
starting berth by finishing second in the 15 lap qualifying
race held Saturday morning.
Due to previous broadcast committments the re-scheduled
race will NOT be seen on TNN as originally planned.
However if you are in the northeast states tickets are
still available for the October 21 race date. For more
information contact Lime Rock Park at 1 800RACELRP.
