Championship for Jean-Pierre Malcher after Perfect Weekend

Nurburgring, 1 October.  Jean-Pierre Malcher from France wins the
Porsche SuperCup title after delivering another stunning performance
in the final race on a wet, foggy Nurburgring. Starting from pole
position, he led from the green light to the eleventh lap, when his
team mate Emmanuel Collard took the lead and won. After the finish
Jean-Pierre Malcher was delighted: "This is the sixth important tilte
in my carreer. Now I go for ten. When I've reached that aim, I'll put
my helmet on the shelf. I want to thank my JMB Competition Team, they
were brilliant." On his way to the title, the 45 year old racing
professional won two races and took maximum points from the race in
France as well, where a guest driver won. Jean-Pierre also set five
pole positions.

The consistent top results of Jean-Pierre Malcher and his team mate
Emmanuel Collard made their JMB Competition Team clear winners of the
Porsche SuperCup team Title. Emmanuel Collard came to the Nurburgring
ranking third in the Drver's Championship and finished his Porsche
SuperCup season with his third win of the year. The Formula One test
driver was philosophical about the season: "The was my second good year 
of racing in the Porsche SuperCup. It was a great opprtunity to be close
to Formula One, and to learn the tracks. At the moment it looks as if
I might need this knowledge in a very fast single seater next year..."

Jurgen von Gartzen from Germany (Falke Oberbayern Motorsport) came to
the Nurburgring trailing Malcher by only four points. He experienced
a weekend of bad luck with a technical problem in the qualifying
session, and an unlucky draw in the Grid Lottery putting him sixth on
the grid. His faultless race ended with a fourth place overall.
Throughout the season Jurgen von Gartzen was the only top contender
to score points at every outing.

Pirelli/Shell/RTL guest driver Bob Wollek from France used his vast
experience of Porsche racing to bring his Carrera from twefth starting
position to eights position in the finish. Bob Wollek: "It was a really
pleasant weekend here at the Nurburgring. In these conditions the 911
demands all your skill." German celebrity catoonist Uli Stein made it
to a respectable 20th overall: "My arms were aching after this race,
and I was sweating despite the cold outside. Racing this car was a lot
of fun."
