The Ford Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 will start in Tijuana,
Mexico for the first time since the inaugural Mexican 1000
in 1967. Up to 300 adventurers will start the final event
of the Eveready Desert Championship Series from the 
picturesque border city on November 8. The city of
Tijuana will orchestrate a major tourism campaign to
attract visitors to the "Baja Mil" which will be run
from November 8-11.

Details of the November race are yet to be released, but
it will start in the heart of the city and will follow
a seldom-traveled route out of town to the south-east,
crossing the foothills and mountains east of town and
dropping down into the vast Laguna Salada on the eastern
side of the peninsula, heading towards San Felipe.
South of there, the competitors will travel
route of the 1992 race down the peninsula to the finish line
at the gateway to La Paz in Baja California Sur.

The seventh and final event in the Eveready Desert Championship
Series will settle championships in every competition class.

Rod Hall, of Reno, Nevada, who has participated in every
previous Baja 1000, has said he plans to come out of retirement
for this year's run to La Paz.
