NASPORT INVADES NORTHERN CALIFORNIA!
The fast action of the NASPORT race cars will be returning to Laguna Seca
Raceway in the scenic Monterey Bay area the weekend of 5-6 August 1995 for the
SFR~SCCA Cannery Row Road Races. In its ninth season of action-packed sedan
sports racing, NASPORT returns to Laguna to race around the twisty, challenging
2.224-mile race course located on the former U.S. Army base .
The Cannery Row Road Races will feature the NASPORT series and will also
include the American City Racing League, as well as other SCCA classes. The
action begins Saturday morning with practice, qualifying Saturday afternoon and
again Sunday morning, with the NASPORT race Sunday afternoon at 12:55 pm PDT.
Defending GT-3 Champion Duane Ablamis of Los Gatos CA and runner-up John
Goddard of Oakland CA will try to wrest the 1995 points lead from Jeff Scoville
of Corvallis OR. In the GT-4 class, current points leader John Olson of
Monterey CA will be challenged by defending champion Steve Zlotkin of San
Juan Bautista, CA. Scoville and Zlotkin both won here last year and look to
repeat their successes.
The following weekend, in a back-to-back schedule, the series moves to
Sears Point Raceway in the heart of the Northern California wine country for
the Hot August Nights Road Races. There the schedule calls for practice on
Friday 11 August with qualifying and racing on Saturday 12 August in an
all-SCCA action-packed three-day weekend.
