12th  ANNUAL KING'S ROYAL  SPRINT RESULTS - Sat. 7/22/95

   Rossburg, OH - Dave Blaney led the final 30 laps to win
his second King's Royal and $50,000 Saturday night at
Eldora Speedway. Behind Blaney's Casey Luna Shaver-Ford
powered J&J aboard Goodyear tires was Steve Kinser in
the Quaker State Maxim and Todd Kane in Junior
Holbrook's J&J.
   A late race red came at the right time for Blaney.
"We had to change the whole front axle. We were lucky
the thing didn't break," Blaney said of his wall brush
late in the race, after which the axle was able to be
repaired under a lap 32 red flag. 
   "Dave was gone, he had us covered," Kinser said of
his runnerup finish, worth $12,000.
   "I was just a little bit tight early, then I got good
in the middle and at the end I got a bit loose. This J&J
worked good," Kane said afterward of Holbrook's Kriner-
powered machine as he took home $7,000.
   Rounding out the top five finishers was Keith
Kauffman in Gil Sonner's machine and Sammy Swindell, who
started next to last in the 24 car field, fifth.
   Joey Saldana took the lead at the drop of the green
in the high groove from the outside pole with fourth
starting Blaney tucking into second. Saldana led through
two restarts, one for a Steve Kent stall and one for a
Lee Brewer spin in which Jeff Shepard spun to avoid
Brewer.
   As Saldana and Blaney headed into lapped traffic,
Blaney dove low under Saldana in turn three to lead lap
10. "The lapped car came down on him, and he hesitated
just a second and I just ran right by him," Blaney
recalled of his pass for the lead.
  Then three fourths of a lap later, Shepard spun with
Rob Chaney hitting him in turn four, with Shepard
flipping the Wahlie Motorsports Maxim, and Mark Kinser
sliding into Shepard's disabled machine. Chaney,
meanwhile, slid through the pit entrance with a broken
front end and hit Kane's camper.
   Blaney ran out to a huge lead after the restart, with
Saldana maintaining second and Kane third. By the
halfway point it was Blaney, Saldana, Kane, S. Kinser,
Kauffman, Dale Blaney, Andy Hillenburg, J. Swindell and
Huntley. With Blaney now a half staightaway ahead,
Kinser got around Kane after several laps of trying low
moves in turn one. Kinser then disposed of Saldana on
lap 26, with Saldana going pitside a lap later with a
smoking Stealth machine. This made the order Dave
Blaney, Kinser, Kane, Kauffman and Dale Blaney. As Dave
Blaney approached lapped traffic on lap 32, Greg Hodnett
brought out another red when he flipped right in front
of the leader, tearing out several turn two fenceposts
and the caution light. This wiped out Dave Blaney's half
lap lead.
   But on the final restart, with eight laps remaining,
Blaney pulled away from Kinser, who had to contend with
three lapped cars. Blaney flashed under the checkered
flag one third of a lap ahead of Kinser.
   Dale Blaney came in sixth, with Jeff Swindell
seventh, Andy Hillenburg eighth, Kevin Huntley ninth and
Stevie Smith tenth.
   On the start of the first heat, Jac Haudenschild
bumped Ed Lynch Jr., with both flipping wildly down the
frontstretch and Sammy Swindell hitting the inside wall
to avoid them. Tray House jumped the cushion, tagged the
wall and flipped in the second heat. No one was injured.
    S. Swindell set fast time over the 53 car field. Rob
Chaney, Jeff Swindell, Randy Hannigan, Lee Brewer, Jr.,
Smith and S. Kinser were the heat winners. S. Kinser was
the only driver out of the top 13 qualifiers to transfer
to the A Main through the heats. The C Main went to
Haudenschild and the B Main to M. Kinser. 
   The 360 sprint bandit 20 lap A Main went non-stop
with Mike Zeiter holding off George Prosser all race
long in a side by side battle. Prosser and third place
Bobby Clark tangled after the checkered with both
flipping in turn one. Kevin Atkins was fourth and Aaron
Call fifth. Heats went to Clark, Atkins, Ron Beale and
Mark Long. Travis Miller took the B main.
