Katayama qualifies 14th, Salo robbed by Sunshine
Ukyo Katayama and Mika Salo recorded the 14th and 15th fastest time in 

Friday's first qualifying session for the British Grand Prix. Both drivers 
set the best time on the first flying lap using their second set of tyres. 
Ukyo's best time was 1 min 32.087 sec and Mika's 1 min 32.093 sec.
Unfortunately, Mika Salo was disqualified by the stewards after he finished 
his second run. Coming back into the pits after his first run, Mika only saw 
the red lights indicating the marshals wanted to check the car's weight as 
he passed it. He stopped but thought it was too late to reverse and drove 
back into the Tyrrell garage.

Mika Salo: "With the sun shining so brightly, I didn't see the red light 
until I was passing it. I stopped in the pit lane thinking some marshals 
might push be back, but it was too late and I drove back into the garage. 
The car is getting better after each run. On my last run I used old tyres 
because there was no point in wasting a new set after being disqualified."
Ukyo Katayama: "I am still not 100% satisfied with the balance of the car. 
We improved the set-up today, but we need to work more for final qualifying. 
I am confident we can improve our times by one second with a better set-up 
and hope to qualify in the top ten."

Harvey Postlethwaite, Managing Director - Engineering: "We still haven't 
found the right balance on the car. We need to work more. It's a shame for 
Mika because the sun was very bright and it was difficult to see the stop 
light against the sun and he was not the only driver who had difficulty into 
seeing it. But easily there is no excuse for shooting a red light - but it 
is part of Mika's learning curve."

Mr Kimura - Yamaha F1 Project Leader: "From a technical perspective we are 
pleased with today's proceedings as the B-spec engines are performing 
reliably. This afternoon we tried to make best-use of our engine's torque by 
changing the gear ratios and tomorrow we expect to improve."
