Porsche SuperCup - Fifth round at the British Grand Prix

Thrills and Spills for BTCC ace John Cleland - French victory.

Silverstone, 16 July.  Young Frenchman Emmanuel Collard (JMB competition)
retains his position as series leader of this year's Porsche SuperCup,
collecting full points from the 15 laps sprint on the Silverstone racetrack.
Collard started from sixth position but rocketed his Porsche Carrera through
the high speed Becketts Corner to snatch third place in lap one already.
With a delicate manoeuvre, the Benetton F1 test driver overtook Juergen von
Gartzen (D, Falke Oberbayern Motorsport) and his team-mate Jean-Pierre
Malcher (F) in lap three. In fourth lap Collard set fastest time (2:03.207
min. =147.761 kph), moving clear off the rest of the field.

Behind Collard, Jean-Pierre Malcher dashed comfortably over the line in
second position, finishing 5 seconds ahead of Juergen von Gartzen and
Dutchman Patrick Huisman (Dutch Racing Promotions). Marco Werner (D, Udo
Schneider Motorsport), who claimed the second best time in qualifying,
retired in lap 13 with engine trouble.

British Touring Car Championship ace John Cleland fought hard for his eighth
finishing place, his Porsche twice being clipped and forced into a spin by
his opponents. John made it to the chequered flag commenting about his race
as a Pirelli/Shell/RTL guest driver:"It is quite a chellenge to drive this
car absolutely flat out, it takes some time to get used to the ABS brakes.
I found my tyres getting worse and worse at the half waypoint, and the
Porsche SuperCup guys were giving me a hard time. But it was great fun."

French Formula 3 driver Jeremie Dufour in the second Pirelli/Shell/RTL
Carrera propelled his Porsche across the finish line to respectable seventh
place, having only driven the car for half an hour in first qualifying.
