Records were set in all four classes during qualifying for Sunday's three hour
IMSA Street Stock Endurance Championship event.  New Zealander Peter Farrell,
driving a Mazda RX-7, shattered the Grand Sports mark with a speed of 92.875
mph, by almost three miles per hour.  Starting alongside Farrell and teammate
Danny Candia will be the Pontiac Firebird Formula of Stu Hayner, John Heinricy,
Mitch Wright and R.K. Smith.  The top twenty cars broke the two-year old mark.

 Topping the Sports class will be the team of Forrest Granlund and Peter
Cunningham.  Cunningham, in a Honda Prelude VTEC, posted a record run of 89.045
mph.  In the Touring class the husband and wife team of Randy and Linda Pobst
will be pacing the class to the green flag in their Honda Prelude Si with new
class record run of 87.110 mph.  Kris Skavnes established a mark for the new
Compact.  Skavnes, in a Honda Accord EX, ran a lap of 85.293 mph.  Skavnes and
teammate Mike Galati will start 50th in the 73 car field.
