NASPORT GT-3 points leader JACK SCOVILLE of Corvallis, OR jumped into the
lead of the series second round at Portland International Raceway at the Rose
Cup races today.  He never looked back as he led the field around the 1.944
mile road course in his #81 Jack Scoville Ltd Nissan 240SX, turning the race's
fastest lap at 1:21.475.  Scoville continues to lead the GT-3 points chase. 
The top five overall and GT-3 finishers were GARY BOCKMAN of Portland, OR in
the #9 Bockman & Sons/NW Demolition Mazda RX-3, Pole Sitter FRANK HONSOWETZ of
El Segundo, CA in his newly repainted #8 Creative Endeavors Nissan 240SX, DOUG
BARNHOLD of Fontana CA in the #19 Genesis Engineering  Nissan 240SX, and MIKE
LEWIS of San Diego, CA in the #12 Red Line Oil/Cyclo Mazda RX-7.

     JOHN OLSEN of Monterey CA was able to start and finish the race, a major
feat in and of itself considering his #3 GT-4 Tarpy's Road House/Classic
Coachworks Nissan PL510 had to be rebuilt from the ground up after he literally
crashed and burned three weeks ago in an SCCA National race in Seattle.  He won
the GT-4 race and now leads GT-4 points as the GT-4 pole sitter, DON NIMI of
North Vancouver, Canada bent a valve and was unable to start the race.  

     The race was run under gray but dry skies   The average race speed for
GT-3 was 81.79 mph and 76.56 for GT-4.  

     The NASPORT-West series now moves to California for Round Three where they
race over Fourth of July Weekend at Thunderhill Park in an all-SCCA
professional race weekend.
