                TEMPERO AND TURCO HEAT UP CALIFORNIA DESERT

     Tony Turco, Hamilton, Ohio, starting from the second row
proved to be Bill Tempero's chief challenger as Tempero went on
to win the opening round of the American IndyCar Series Sunday
race at Willow Springs International Raceway, Rosamond,
California.  Tempero's win came from the outside of the front row
that he shared with Ken Petrie, Parker, Colorado.

     Petrie in the Precision Glassblowing March Chevrolet was on
the pole with a 1.11.070 time, breaking the A.I.S track record of
1.12.272 set by Tempero in last season's final race.  Petrie's
recordbreaking time came during Sunday's qualifications as
Saturday's schedule was postponed because of heavy rains.

     At the green flag Tempero led into the first turn with
Petrie and Turco in pursuit, however, Petrie's pursuit was short
lived as he came into the pits after losing fifth gear in turn
eight.  As he rejoined the race at the back of the pack, he
experience the loss of yet two more gears; and after five laps,
he retired the car.

     With Petrie suffering gearbox woes, Turco took over second
with David Morgan-Busby, Beverly Hills, California, in third
position, Jay Hansen, Fairfax, California, in fourth and rookie
Curtis Spicer, in fifth.  Spicer driving a car prepared by Bill
Tempero Racing comes to the series from Vancouver, B.C.

     Turco, pushing Tempero on every lap, took the lead on lap
eleven, and in the next twelve laps Turco and Tempero changed the
lead four times as the race became more heated.  On the sweeping
number nine turn Tempero took the lead for the final time as he
slipped under Turco.

     Turco in a post race interview acknowledged the win to
Tempero's prudent use of rubber and Tempero's experience in the
turn nine pass.  "I used up my tires in the early part of the
race and had nothing left for the final laps," stated Turco.

     In addition two Spicer, California, rookies Gerry Glenn and
Jim Webb, and Vail, Colorado's, Jacques Lazier showed themselves
as up-and-coming drivers.

     The A.I.S. moves on to Suntana Raceway, Springville, Utah,
May 27 for the second round of competition as Turco challenges
Tempero for the points lead in the A.I.S. driver championships.

Subj:     Nevada Open Road Challenge

                       MAY EVENT TO BE LARGEST EVER

     To date over 100 entries have been received for the 1995
Nevada Open Road Challenge.  This years event will be held on May
21st, on S.R. #318 just outside of Ely, Nevada.


     For the first time ever, Indianapolis Racing Cars will
participate in the Nevada Open Road Challenge.  Bill Tempero
President of the American IndyCar Series, and 1994 Series
Champion will be running his 1991 Klein-powered Lola on the 100
mile stretch of Nevada blacktop.  Bill will be making a run at
the all time course record and looks to average over 200 mph.

     The traditional car show and BBQ will take place Saturday,
May 20, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM on Eleventh Street in front
of the train depot.  All are invited to attend. 

     The featured marque this year will be Aston Martin, The
marque is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee Anniversary this year. 
The will be no less than six extraordinary examples of this
marque on display for the May event.  Additionally these Astons
will be participating in the Challenge.

     The deadline for entry in the Challenge is rapidly
approaching.  For entry information call (702) 643-3333.  Entry
is open to any licensed driver with a roadworthy vehicle.   This
is a unique auto racing event, don't miss out on a truly unique
opportunity.
