Dramatic new Pacific-Ford PR02 set to challenge established teams

Pacific Team Lotus has today (Thursday 23rd Feb) unveiled its 1995 
Formula One challenger, the all new Pacific-Ford PR02. Produced in-house 
by Pacific's design team headed by Frank Coppuck, the new car is powered 
by the 3.0 litre Ford Cosworth ED engine and features a six speed 
semi-automatic gearbox developed at Pacific's headquarters in Thetford, 
Norfolk.

Aside from ensuring that the new car meets the very latest FIA safety 
standards, extensive development work has been carried out on the Pacific 
PR02's aerodynamics, giving rise to a radical front wing and nose section 
which is certain to make the car stand out from its rivals.

Pacific Grand Prix is entering its second full season of Formula One with 
great confidence, the recently announced alliance with Team Lotus 
heightening the team's profile, a strong line up of sponsors already 
signed and, with Bertrand Gachot already nominated as one of the drivers, 
the team management looking forward to announcing his team mate in the 
very near future.

Keith Wiggins, Founder and Managing Director, Pacific Grand Prix Ltd said:

"We are all really excited about this season as it sees the first true 
Pacific Formula One car - designed and built in house. You obviously 
never know how the land lies until the first race, but I am a lot more 
confident of achieving good results than I was this time last year! All 
the staff have worked enormously hard since the design of the PR02 
commenced, and I'm encouraged by the way things look so far. We have an 
excellent package from which to build and reap some of the results 
everyone has worked so hard to achieve."

Frank Coppuck confirmed Keith's optimism by reiterating:

"The car is a totally new design with no components carried over from 
last year. We have gone for the ultimate package around the very compact 
Ford Cosworth ED Engine and I am very delighted with the final product. I 
am looking forward to the results on the track."

Following the launch, the Pacific-Ford PR02 is being returned to the 
team's base for final preparation prior to the start of testing. The 
team's second chassis is also being built at the moment, with a full 
testing programme being planned in the weeks leading up to the opening 
round of this year's Formula One World Championship in Brazil on March 26.
