Two new Toyota MC8 Grand Touring Models will race for the first
time at Le Mans in June and at the Suzuka 1,000 kms in August. The
MC8 is a stretched MR2 powered by the 4-liter Lexus engine mounted
longitudinally, with 300 bhp for road use or 600 bhp with the twin-turbo
race engine.

Ulsterman Kenneth Acheson is tipped to join Mauro Martini and Jeff
Krosnoff in the SARD Toyota team at Le Mans. Acheson, who has two
seconds and a third to his credit at Le Mans, has not raced since
his team TOM's Toyota TS010 retired from the event in 1993. After
concentrating on business interests, Acheson declares himself "ready for
a comeback."
