Lime Rock Park To Host Largest Sports Car Race in North America
Lime Rock Park in conjunction with the Dodge Dealers Advertising
Association has announced the running of the largest sports car race in
North America. The Dodge Dealers Grand Prix at Lime Rock on Memorial
Day weekend, May 26-29 1995, will feature seven of the world's fastest
sports car racing series for a purse of over $500,000.
For the first time in US road racing history SCCA Pro Racing and the
International Motor Sports Association will featuretheir pro racing
efforts in a co-sanctioned event that will showcase over two hundred of
the world's fastest sports cars competing in a total of eight hours of
racing.
Headlining the weekend will be the SCCA's TransAm Tour and the IMSA
Exxon World Sports Car series. The weekend will include six television
programs both live and tape delayed on ESPN and Prime Networks.
The tentative weekend schedule includes: SCCA TransAm Tour, IMSA Exxon
World Sports Cars, SCCA Barber Dodge Pro Series, IMSA Exxon Supreme GT,
SCCA World Challenge, IMSA Bridgestone Super Car,and Neon Celebrity
Challenge.
Off-track activites will include the 1995 MoPar Expo, New England's
largest all-Chrysler aut show and swap meet, with over 200
Chrysler-powered vehicles on display.

hidden in this release is some other interesting news. The Barber
Pro Series, formerly using SAAB turbos for power, will switch to the
normally aspirated Dodge V6 beginning in 1995, and the series apparently
will have an SCCA sanction instead of IMSA.
