COOPER TAKES “OUTLAW 100” WIN,
JACKSON AND MALONE VICTORIOUS IN ANDERSON MAINS.

ANDERSON, Ind. (Sept. 14)---The book on the 1996 oval track season
closed Saturday night ¾the Demolition Derby is next Saturday¾with the
"Outlaw 100," the Figure-8 cars and Street Stocks doing battle.

Jim Cooper, the 1996 Hoosier Park Late Model champion set fast time
and captured the 100 lap "Outlaw 100" for the outlaw late models. Wes
Russell, Jr. took second over Jerry Stires, Terry Malone and Al Grogg.
Perennial favorite Larry Zent was down early in the afternoon but
disaster beset the Northern Indiana invader. Zent broke his steering and
pounded the unforgiving wall. He went back home to fix his racer, but
did not return.

Malone, fresh from his fourth place finish in the "Outlaw 100," defeated
1996 Big Lots Figure-8 champ. Rose took second over Rod Phipps, Gene
Huston and Doug Riddle. Chris Bair won the heat ahead of Phipps and
Riddle.

Josh Jackson waited until the last night of the '96 season to win his
first T&H Parts Houses Street Stock "A" main. He defeated new track
record holder Chris Bair (14.310). SS Rookie Jeff Cravens finished third
(his best ever finish) ahead of Tim Teal and David Garrity. 21 year
old rookie Ryan Cash won his first ever feature, by taking the B-Main.
Deanna Schwartz was second over Mike Fredericks, Mike Riddle, Jr. and
Danny Stanley, Jr. Teal won the fast heat over Pat Boyer and Garrity.
Rob Harless won the 2nd heat by defeating Cravens and Brian McVey.
Fredericks won the third heat with Riddle, Jr. and Cash trailing.
