SPEEDVISION GOES ONLINE: The Speedvision Network, the first 24-hour cable network devoted exclusively to automotive, aviation and marine entertainment and information, has announced the launch of Speedvision Online (www.speedvision.com), the network's companion Internet site. Speedvision OnLine was developed specifically for enthusiasts who wish to obtain the latest consumer-oriented news and information, motorsports results, standings and highlights. The service also features up-to-the-minute information on the network, including program listings and descriptions, as well as upcoming events airing on Speedvision. Speedvision Online was designed to mirror the programming strategy of the network, while adding value through the interactive capabilities of the World Wide Web, stated Roger Werner, Speedvision's president and chief executive officer. Users can obtain information on all four vehicle categories, from manufacturer recalls to race results. Additional sections of the site include an instruction and how-to area, an arena for professional and amateur photographers to display their work and bulletin boards. Available in approximately five million homes, Speedvision is currently carried by Cox Communications Inc., Continental Cablevision, Comcast Corp., Marcus Cable, Scripps-Howard, and Daniels as well as nationally on DirecTV. The network is also accessible to the C-Band market of backyard dish owners and small cable systems on Satellite C-4, Transponder 11.

SCHIE CLOSING GROUND: Thomas Schie, of Norway, captured his second straight Barber Dodge Pro Series win at Laguna Seca on Sept. 7 to pull within striking distance of series points leader Fredrik Larsson with two races to go. Larsson, of Sweden, continues to lead the point standings, but has failed to make the winner's podium in either of the last two races. Larsson leads with 133 points, followed by Schie with 123. Barber Dodge Pro Series action resumes at the Reno Grand Prix, with the season concluding on October 12 at Lime Rock Park.
