TAYLOR TO TEST IN PREPARATION FOR CHAMPIONSHIP RUN AT DAYTONA

     DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 4) -- South African Wayne Taylor's
International Motor Sports Association Exxon World SportsCar
Championship-leading team will stage a two-day test this weekend (Sept. 7-8)
at Daytona International Speedway in preparation for the upcoming IMSA
Finale At Daytona Oct. 4-6.
	Taylor, an Altamonte Springs, Fla., resident, will test his Oldsmobile
Aurora-powered R&S Mk. 3 chassis over the high-banked, 3.56-mile Daytona
course. The team opened the season with a victory in the Rolex 24 At Daytona
and has scored three other wins since then. They will test the Rolex
24-winning car this weekend, according to Riley & Scott's Mark Scott.
	Taylor currently has a 31-point lead in the WSC driver standings over
Italian Max Papis. Taylor is attempting to win his second WSC driver's
championship in the three-year history of the series. After Taylor's second
place finish in last weekend's round in Dallas, Oldsmobile has a two-point
lead in the manufacturer's championship standings over Ferrari. Both
championships will be decided in the Daytona Finale.
	In addition, the Exxon Supreme GTS-2 driver's and manufacturer's
championships will also be decided at Daytona. Larry Schumacher holds a five
point edge over Pete Halsmer, who has won three straight races for BMW,
while Porsche and BMW are tied for the GTS-2 manufacturer's championship race.
	A section of the Oldfield Grandstand will be open at no charge from 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m. with access through the DAYTONA USA lobby. Guided tours of the
Speedway are available from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a nominal fee.
