   BELLEVILLE , KS - Danny Lasoski moved past Jeff Shepard to take
Tuesday's sprint car feature on the Belleville High Banks.  The race
was round two of the Thunder Through the Plains Tour II pitting the
All Star sprints against the National Championship Racing Ass'n. The
second win in as many career starts for Lasoski at Belleville also
marked this fourth NCRA and second All Star wins of  this season.
   Shepard started from the pole in the Wahlie Motorsports Chevrolet
powered Maxim and appeared destined to defend his 1995 Belleville
victory. Don Droud, Jr. ran behind Shepard for nine laps before fourth
starting Lasoski took him inside turn one. On lap 18, Van Gurley, Jr.
scuffed wheels with Denver's Rick Montgomery, flipping Gurley exiting
turn two. Gurley reported a sore arm and a destroyed Maxim.
   "We were happy when the red came out," Lasoski declared. "I hated
for Van Gurley, but it got us to close the gap and there were
virtually no lapped cars between us. Jeff wasn't getting held
up in lapped cars. When you get in front at Belleville in clean air,
its awful tough to run somebody down. So the red flag gave me the
chance to work on him one on one."
   During the red Shepard's mechanic Marshall Campbell convinced Jeff
that he was fastest on the bottom of turns three and four. When the
green flew Shepard shot forward using that line. It took Lasoski just
a few laps to close hard around the top. Shepard drifted back to the
frontstretch wall, too late to curb Lasoski's Gaerte momentum. Lasoski
crossed inside and up into command after 23 of 30 laps.
   "We definitely chose a harder (Goodyear) tire than most of them,"
said Lasoski of his Guy Forbrook team. "Because I figured I was going
to be all over the place here. I was running in on the cushion and
kinda actually making kind of a semi-diamond out of it. It worked out
and we got by him."
   Gary Wright started and finished third trailed by Dale Blaney, who
used the bottom to pass Droud and the Jaciobs brothers, Kenny and
Dean. Commercial Truck & Trailer Dash winner K. Jacobs finished fifth
over 13th starting Frankie Kerr, D. Jacobs and row six starter Danny
Smith. Rocky Hodges was ninth over Craig Dollansky.
   Californian Paul McMahan received a $500 bonus from the Belleville
Fair Board for a new track record of 14.545 seconds. The Southwest
Expresslines heat fell to Kerr, the ButlerBuilt round to Shane Carson
and the third heat to Smith. Lasoski also won the Outerwears
Pre-filters B Main.
