Swede Kenny Brack celebrated his third win of the season after a
faultless race from pole position, and took the lead again in the
championship from Jorg Muller.
Muller had set-up problems in qualifying and only made it for the
fifth position in the starting grid. Between him and Brack were
Dane Tom Kristensen in second, and the two Brazilians Christiano
da Matta and Riccardo Zonta in third and fourth.
Kenny Brack lead the race over the whole distance of 40 laps,
always shadowed by Tom Kristensen with one second behind.
Black weekend for Jorg Muller, whose inboard extinguisher had
discharged during warm up, was out of race in first lap with
electrical problems and finally a failing clutch.
After some laps the two leaders had a comfortable gap of ten seconds
to the rest of the field. Exiting was the duel for third position
between the two Brazilians Marcos Gueiros and Riccardo Zonta.
Zonta, who had a collision with Christiano da Matta in first lap,
snatched third place from Gueiros after 16 laps.
Pergusa winner Marc Goosens, who also had a bad balanced car in
qualifying, made it up to seventh position before a puncture threw him
one lap behind.
Austrian Oliver Tichy spin off in sixth lap when trying to overtake
Elton Julian.
