F1: Salo stays with Tyrrell for 1997

TYRRELL CONFIRMS SALO FOR THIRD YEAR

"Mika Salo will drive for us in 1997" announced Ken Tyrrell, the
Tyrrell Yamaha team principal, today Wednesday 7 August.

Ken continued: "Mika's first season with us last year was a difficult
one and he had to experience many of the Grand Prix circuits for the
first time. This year, his second with the Tyrrell Yamaha team, has
seen Mika secure five race finishes - scoring World Championship
points in three of them. We, together with Yamaha, are committed to
improving the team's performance and Mika shares that commitment. I am
delighted that he is with us for 1997."

"We still have five races remaining of this year's championship and
the team will make an announcement concerning our other drivers in due
course," he concluded.

Said a smiling Mika Salo: "Great. Our agreement for 1997 is very
important for continuity, both for myself and the team. Everybody at
Tyrrell and Yamaha are working so hard to achieve better performance.
I really look forward to working for the success we all deserve."
