SENNEKER MOTORSPORTS PERFORMANCE REPORT
LANE AUTOMOTIVE - JR AUTOMATION - MR GASKET
August 4, 1996
"Lancaster 300"
Lancaster (NY) Speedway
Finished: 2nd Started: 8th; 18.307 (98.323 mph)
"The track was bumpy", said Senneker of the ASA's first visit to the half
mile facility at Lancaster Speedway. From his 8th starting position, Bob
moved into 7th at lap 36, 6th by lap 42, 5th at lap 43, 4th at lap 46 and
3rd by lap 56. After the second caution at lap 63 Bob was into 2nd at lap
75. Bob passed Eddy for the lead at lap 89 and held the top spot until lap
95. Eddy passed Bob back for the lead, while Bob settled in for 3rd. The
3rd caution flew at lap 112, Bob came in for right side tires and gas. The
tires that were
taken off were caked with tire rubber and asphalt on the inside of the of
the rims. Bob came out running 6th. The 4th caution waved at lap 132, Bob
brought the Lane Automotive/JR Automation/Mr. Gasket Ford Thunderbird into
the pits for left side tires. The crew beat out the Eddy and Nott cars out
of the pits, Bob is running 12th on the track. The green flag flies and by
lap 150 he is in 7th position, by lap 153 he is 6th. When the 5th caution
flies at lap 168 Bob brings the "Bluebird" into the pits for fresh right
side tires, he comes out running eighth. Track positions is of the utmost
importance at his stage of the race as the track surface is tearing up in
turns 3 and 4. The asphalt is rolling up and the turns are like running in
gravel, many tires are cut, and if you move up outta the groove into the
lose stuff you'll spin the car. Senneker with his years of experience and
consistent laps is able to keep his mount out of danger. The green waves at
lap 175 and by lap 200 he is in 7th, by lap 220 he is 6th. Strategy is to
run the rest of the way without pitting and try to finish in the top 5. By
lap 223 he is 5th, 4th at lap 238 and 3rd at lap 243. When the 8th caution
waves at lap 260, 2nd place Cywinski pits, giving Bob second place to Bob,
behind the leader Nott. Over the final 40 laps Bob is pressured by third
place Baird, who is all over his rear bumper. Nott holds off Senneker and
Baird for his first career victory. "It was very slippery with the track
coming up and this feels like a victory", said a happy Senneker. "The car
ran great and the boys made great stops all day. It's great to see a guy win
his first race. Joe deserved to win this race, he made the least amount of
mistakes all day." Bob goes from 6th to 4th in points, 66 points out of
first place. The next race is August 10 at Berlin Raceway for the "Eaglewood
Construction 300". The race will be televised LIVE on PRIME (PASS in
Michigan) starting at 9 pm edt.
