This time Jorg Muller was the one with some problems in qualifying.
Fourth position in the grid was the result. With Kenny Brack on pole,
Marc Goossens beside him, and Marcos Cueiros third, the field had some
alarming moments right after the start. The Lolas of Marc Goossens and
Fabrizio Gullin/I were suddenly stalled. But they all were on the alert.
Brack had the lead ahead of Muller, Gueiros and Tinseau, and there were
no changes among the top four until the chequered flag.
Frenchmen Philippe Belloc and Guillaume Gomez spun into the gravel
repeatedly. Christian Pescatori/I, it's his fourth F3000 season, kicked
Portuguese Pedro Couceiro off the track in lap eight. In the same lap
Austrian Oliver Tichy said good bye, by hitting a barrier. A few laps
later Stephen Watson from South Africa cuts the rear wheel of the Lola
of the Argentine Gaston Mazzacane with his front wing.
Immediately after the race Jorg Muller couhgt a flight to take part at
the 24 hours race at Spa Francorchamps, and he won it.
