ASA: Jennerstown Senneker report

Finished: 17th Running		Started: 3rd, 18.691 (100.540 mph)

Coming into the Jennerstown race, Bob had won the last 2 races at  the 
Jennerstown (PA) oval; both events in 1995. Plus in 1996 he had won the last 
2 out 3 ASA races.. During the practice session on Friday afternoon, Bob 
posted the quickest time at 18.55 seconds. At the start of the race, Bob 
dropped to 4th, by lap 17 he was in 8th and starting to all further back in 
the field. Bob radioed the crew  that his stagger was off, Bob fell to 13th 
by lap 35, but  worked his way up to 11th by lap 40 and was maintaining his 
position. At lap 65, Bob radioed the crew that he had lost the front brakes 
on the Lane/JR Automation/Mr. Gasket Ford Thunderbird; the brake pedal had 
went all the way to the floor and as he waited for a caution, he was lapped 
by the leader, Eddy. The first caution was at lap 80, the crew found that 
the right front brake caliper had an o-ring go bad and clamped that line 
off, Senneker would finish the day on 3 brakes. While he was in for repairs, 
they changed rear tires and fueled the car, when he returned to the track 
had lost 3 more laps in the pits, for a total of 4. The green waved at lap 
88, with very few cars out at this point; 29 cars were still running at lap 
125. On the next stop Bob said "..the car was really loose" and with 3 
brakes  it was kinda "scary". The 2nd caution waved for an accident at lap 
189, the "Bluebird" came in for service and took on right side tires with a 
great 11.6 second stop. The green waved at lap 161, 24 cars were running at 
this point with Bob running in the top 20. Even though the Ford had 3 brakes 
he was able to maintain his position on the track, often times running as 
fast as the leaders. When the checkers waved at the end, Bob was in 17th 
place. Only 2 cautions waved on this afternoon, and the attrition was very 
low. Mike Eddy won, Tony Raines - 2nd, Joe Nott - 3rd, Mike Miller - 4th and 
Brad Loney - 5th. "It was kinda scary out there with only 3 brakes, but the 
car was fast at the end," Senneker said after the race. "The crew did a 
great job in fixing the problem and losing only 3 laps in the pits." 

The AC Delco Challenge Series travels next to LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway 
for the "LaCrosse 300" next Sunday. The race will be televised nationally by 
The Nashville Network (TNN) starting at 2 p.m. (EDT).
