ATTICA RACEWAY PARK - ATTICA, OHIO
ATTICA, OH - Dale Blaney drove the Tim Hughes J&J chassis with Davey=20
Brown Sr.-Chevy power to an eight second victory in the seventh annual=20
Brad Doty Classic Thursday night at Attica Raceway Park. Blaney took home=
=20
$5,000 for the United Expressline All Star sprint feature victory,=20
sponsored by Kear=92s Speed Shop.
Blaney thanked car owners Tim & Jean Hughes and mechanic Davey Brown=20
for really getting his car working for the main event after having engine=
=20
problems in his heat and qualifying for the main by finishing second in=20
the B main. For Blaney, it was his 15th win of =9296 in All Star=20
competition, his second Attica win of the season and fourth career win at=
=20
the one-third mile oval.
Danny Smith, aboard the Ken Bodkins Jenkins chassis took the point at=20
the drop of the green flag in the 40-lap main event from the outside pole=
=20
starting spot. Byron Reed flipped in turn two bringing out a red with one=
=20
lap in the books. On the restart, Smith bolted out to a huge lead for the=
=20
initial ten rounds. Blaney, who started seventh, moved into the runner-up=
=20
spot on lap nine using an inside move coming off turn two to pass Daniel=20
Coggeshell.
Blaney chased down Smith by lap 13, and the duo raced side-by-side for=
=20
seven straight laps. At the halfway mark, Smith jumped the cushion exitin=
g=20
corner two giving an opening to Blaney. Blaney rode the middle groove the=
=20
final 20 rounds for an easy victory.
Smith scored second at the checkered flag while Kevin Huntley passed=20
three cars on the white flag lap to steal third for the Warren Johnson=20
United Expresslines team. Coggeshell was fourth in his Viper, with Butch=20
Schroeder=92s Gambler fifth. Frankie Kerr in the Stan Shoff J&J, Tim Shaf=
fer=20
in the J&M Cook and Jeff Shepard aboard the Wahlie Motorsports Maxim were=
=20
next. Kelly Kinser came back from an early spin in his Stealth for ninth=20
ahead of Van Gurley Jr=92s. Maxim.
Kerr posted fast time of 12.403 seconds over the 32 car field. Scott=20
Miller took the Southwest Expresslines heat, Craig Dollansky the=20
ButlerBuilt heat and Mike Lutz in the Reidling No. 50 and Reed won the=20
other two heats. Schroeder won the Outerwears Pre-filters B main and=20
Blaney copped the Commercial Truck & Trailer Dash. All Star Bo-Link rooki=
e=20
of the year contender Jeremy Minton flipped end over end six times down=20
the front chute during the first lap of the B Main but was uninjured.
With the victory, Blaney took over the top spot in the Attica=20
Frigidaire Pro Series point standings that pays $5,000 to win. He leads=20
with 440 over Kerr=92s 422, Kinser=92s 402, Huntley at 400 and Smith=92s =
368.=20
Mike Linder scored his fourth econo sprint win over Jim Dayton, Mark=20
Lang, Joe Armbruster and Dusty Rodawalt,
