Honda announced yesterday (July 9, Tue.) that the JTCC point-leading
manufacturer will pull out of the latest rounds scheduled this weekend in
Mine.
The shock announcement came from the fact that the Japan Automobile
Federation had inspected the Accord's suspension structure following the
appeal lodged after the opening rounds by a rival Toyota team, and told
Honda just recently it's no-go for the remainder of the season.
Honda also said they're hard at work for the new car with a revised
suspension to be ready ASAP.
But it seems like the Honda withdrawal, although it may be temporary, is the
beginning of a possible demise of the JTCC.
Nissan is rumored to have the similar thing in the Primera. You can imagine
they're kicking their own butt right now.
The series participants, and the carmakers alike, think they're enjoying far
less success in Super Touring than in Group A, with an excessive amount of
expense.
Stay tuned for the next episode....
