Pit Notes for Sunday, June 30

BARBER DODGE PRO SERIES POST-RACE QUOTES

GEOFF BOSS (#4 Midway Airlines/OmniGlow/Aldila Barber Dodge) -- First
place finished in today's Barber Dodge Pro Series Race. -- It was really
exciting. This has been a very difficult year for me and it's been a
long season so far. I was really pleased though. The car was working
really well this weekend. We got a good restart and I think that helped.
It got a little slippery at the end of the race. Someone dumped some
antifreeze and Tony (Renna, #9 SBRS "Big Scholorship"/J. Williams Barber
Dodge) went off. Rocky (Moran, #7 Advance Dial/Geneva Formula Racing
Barber Dodge) was right there at the end which made it very exciting.
Did the rain delay have any effect on you?  It gave me a little more
time to relax. I knew I had a good car in the dry and I wasn't so sure
how the car would be in the wet  so I was pleased when they halted the
race and waited for the dry. I don't have any complaints.

ROCKY MORAN, JR. (#7 Advance Dial/Geneva Formula Racing Barber Dodge) --
Finished second in today's Barber Dodge Pro Series Race. -- I thought it
was a really close race. I think if I could have gotten ahead of the
guys a little sooner maybe I could have had something for Geoff. Overall
though it was a lot of fun. Did the rain have any effect on you?  I
think in the beginning I was a little bit more patient and more calm
because I was just trying to get used to it. When it went dry I just
went for it.

THOMAS SCHIE (#10 Marlboro /Sikkens/Shell/Tork 909 Barber Dodge) --
Finished third in today's Barber Dodge Pro Series Race. -- My car wasn't
working real good because of the crash I had yesterday. The crew did a
great job in getting it fixed. The car wasn't working as well as it did
in qualifying so I was just looking at a third place finish. It was
great so I'm really happy. Did the rain have any effect on you?  I was
really hoping for the rain because I'm really good in the rain. I
started third after the rain delay and that helped me a lot I think.

TONY RENNA (#9 BigScholars/WllmsCars) Renna went off course in turn 10
-- I think it was a big patch of oil. I came through running second and
only had one in front of me. Obviously, I would have changed my line,
but I never had a chance. He did a good job and got through. I never saw
a debris flag, evidently it (the substance on the track) was laid down
after my last time through the corner. I'm fine.

JEFF BUCKNUM (#28 Quaker State/Atlas/DesignSpec) Bucknum was in the
second wave of cars that went off course in turn 10 -- Going into turn
10 it all seemed okay. As I started into my turn-in, my tires got coated
with something. It must have been a fine coating on the track.
I guess you were fortunate and finished the race if you didn't hit that
patch. It was unfortunate because I was running third and ready to catch
second when I happened.

DEREK JOHN HILL (#24 Road & Track/GP Tours) Things went really good and
not so good. I started 17th and finished sixth.  We had just a few
things go wrong yesterday in qualifying that set me back, but the car
felt good today.  I avoided trouble in the rain, but in the dry I worked
up to third place.  I made the mistake of not switching the red (master)
switch on all the way, and when I went into the inner loop, I hit the
curb like you do everytime, and hit the switch.  That let three guys get
by because I'd completely shut down.  I just switched it back on, but
I'd already lost the positions.  The red flag pause let guys think about
what they had to do in the second part of the race.  I started sixth
rather than 17th.  I was ready to make a charge to the front, and was in
the process when I hit the switch.  During qualifying I had a mechanical
problem - the rear roll bar adjustment cable broke, but my mechanic
deserves the most thanks, because the car was good today.
