Pole setter Jarno Trulli led the race by a wide margin until lap 6,
when he became slower through a mechanical failure. He defended the
lead until the 16th lap. Then the 18 years old Agentinien Esteban
Tuero saw a gap in "Loews Corner" where no gap was. And this was
the end of Trulli's race. Tuero, who was second in qualifying could
continue, but had another collision with the German Marcel Tiemann,
when they were fighting for the lead three laps before the finish.
This was the out for the young Argentine and Tiemann whose car had
no damage from the collision could win the race before Dutchman
Tom Coronel.
