Silly Season Starts as Stanton and Hannagan Split

    NICHOLASVILLE, KY (May 13) - The World of Outlaws' silly season
officially started Monday when Gary Stanton announced that 1995 Skoal
Outlaw Series Rookie of the Year Randy Hannagan would no longer be
driving the #75 Mopar Maxim.
    "It was a mutual decision between the two of us," Stanton said.
"We left on good terms. We just never got things going."
    Veteran California driver Jimmy Sills will race the sprint car in
the World of Outlaws events at Hartford Speedway Sunday and in the
series' annual Pennsylvania Tour opener at Lernerville Speedway
Tuesday.
    "This won't be a long-term deal with Jimmy," Stanton said. "He
drives our USAC Silver Crown car and he also has his driving school to
run.
    "We'd like to get somebody to drive the car in the Williams Grove
TV race, but I don't have any idea who that will be."
    Although they missed several races while putting their engine
program together, Hannagan and Stanton ranked 16th in the Skoal Outlaw
Series point standings following Sunday's event at Tri-State Speedway.
    Hannagan drove his brother Terry's #1x Maxim into eighth place in
the point standings last year, and joined Stanton's new Mopar
operation during the off-season. WoO
