Audi Stumbles in South Africa

The Audi juggernaut had the brakes put on its onslaught on the AA 
Fleetcare Super Touring Championship in rounds 3 & 4 of the series at 
the Goldfields Circuit near Welkom.

Unbeaten in the previous four races the Rothmans Audis lost out to 
Opel in the first race and BMW in the second, which turned into 
something of a demolition derby.

Mike Briggs won the first race ahead of Opel team mate Grant McCleery, 
with Chris Aberdein third for Audi a fraction ahead of BMW's Shaun van 
der Linde and Julian Bailey's Toyota Camry.

The Audis collided with each other in the second race while Briggs 
tangled with Bailey and both McCleery and Deon Joubert (BMW) failed to 
last the distance.

This left Van der Linde in the lead ahead of Duncan Vos (Nissan 
Sentra) and Craig Baird (BMW).
