New Oxford, PA
Once again on Saturday night I went to the Lincoln Speedway, this time with my
son Matt. Once again Dave Reininger attended the nights racing events with a
fellow fan from Virgina. He sat in turn one and I sat in turn four. For those
of you who have never been to Lincoln it is a 3/8 mile clay banked oval track.
Lincoln is located in New Oxford (Abbotstown), Pa approximately 1.7 miles east
of SR 94 on US 30, then 1/2 mile south at the speedway sign.
This was the third night of the Expressline All Star invasion of the East
Coat. There were 38 of the 410 Sprints, 17 of the Semi Late cars and 22 of
the Thunder Cars signed into the pits. There were four heat races for the 410
sprints with five to qualify from each heat. There was also a twelve lap B
Main with four to qualify and then a 40 Lap A Main.
The Hamilton owned #77 was present with Fred Rahmer. Saturday night will now
find the #77 at Lincoln since Rahmer is in the hunt for the points
championship. Also present was the #19 of Steve Smith.

The #25 of Todd Gracey scratched from the event allowing the #07 of Dave Haight
to make the event.
The green waved and the #69K of Kreitz took the point, however the yellow
immediately waved. As the field came around again realigning for a restart the
starter pointed at the #69K. On the restart the #69K of Kreitz was again in
the lead followed by the #1J of Siegel who was being pressured hard by the #19
of Smith. On lap three the #19 of Smith took the second spot from the #1J of
Siegel in turn four. Smith now set his sights on the leader #69K and was all
over him and on lap six got by him in turn two. By lap seven the leader Steve
Smith was lapping traffic. On lap eight the #92x of Gobrecht passed the #23s
of Kerr on the back stretch taking over fifth position. On lap twelve the
yellow came out for the #12 of Kauffman who had come to a stop on the back
stretch. Running order for the top five was: #19, #69K, #1J, #55, #92, #23s.
Unfortunately this was a lengthy yellow as the drivers had a difference in
opinion with the officials over the line up order.
Once the green flew the field took off with the #92x of Gobrecht hitting the
outside wall just past the start/finish line while running fifth, fortunately
for him he kept going. By lap nineteen the leader #19 Steve Smith was lapping
cars again. The yellow then waved for the #00 of Danny Smith who had come to a
stop. The #92 of Jacobs entered the pits but was able to rejoin the field.
The #12 of Kauffman was also in the pits again. The top five at this point
were: #19, #69K, #1J, #55, #92x, #2W. On lap twenty three the #2D of Dollansky
brought out the yellow since he had looped the car in turn four and was facing
traffic. the red then came out for a fuel stop. During the fuel stop the #69K
of Kreitz changed a top wing which is allowed under the All Star rules. During
this time sprinkles were felt and since the weather person had called for rain
it made the crowd nervous.
The field restarted but the #3 of Coggeshell slowed and then stopped on the
front stretch bring out the yellow. The cars aligned for the restart. As the
green waved the #92x of Gobrecht made a move and passed the #55 of Shaffer in
turn two and the #1J on the back stretch to take the third position. The #92x
started reeling in the #69K of Kreitz ever so slowly. On lap twenty-nine the
#19 of Smith started lapping traffic again. The #92x of Gobrecht was starting
to catch the #69K and on the final lap put a move on the #69K of Kreitz coming
out of turn four but he was unable to complete the pass.
