WXXP FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT THIS WEEK
$1.98 ADULT ADMISSION!
96-06
ANDERSON, Indiana (March 31)---The Anderson Speedway and WXXP,
Experience 98 will join forces this Saturday night for Fan
Appreciation Night. This is one of the most popular nights of the
season. The admission is just $1.98 for adults and $1.00 for
children.
The Hoosier Park Late Models are the top class competing on a regular
basis at the track. They are called stock cars, yet there is nothing
on the cars stock. The bodies, normally formed from aluminum or
fiberglass bear little or no resemblance to a passenger car. Those
differences aside, the class is extremely exciting and fast.
Anderson’s Jim Cooper captured the 1995 title over fellow hometowner
Ray Fullen. Recent points champions Bobby Fields (Willow and Vic
Hellis were seriously injured last spring. Neither driver has done
well so far, but Bobby’s brother Rick won on opening night. Ray
Fullen (Anderson) took the other.
The other two classes both more closely resemble stock cars. The
Figure-8 class and the Street Stocks share rules common with past
American passenger
cars. Markleville’s Tom Gossar took the 1995 Figure-8 title after a
heated battle with Rich Boyer. Boyer captured the opening night win
Chris Bair (Anderson) captured last year’s Street Stock points war.
Anderson drivers Wayne Young and Rob Hazelbaker have captured feature
events so far. Young also broke the track record.
