NASCAR OFFICIALS ANNOUNCE MODIFICATIONS
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --- NASCAR officials announced today a
modification to the Ford Thunderbird for competition in the NASCAR
Winston Cup Series. The decision comes after analyzing the data from
a wind tunnel session last March, as well as considering options
presented by Ford.
Through a technical bulletin, officials approved a reduction
of an additional half inch in the rear portion of the roof line on
all all Thunderbirds at tracks one mile or longer, with the exception
of road courses, Daytona international Speedway and Talladega Super
speedway.
The changes will be effective prior to The Winston Select
all-star weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway May 17-18.
