Walkinshaw To Join With Arrows
Tom Walkinshaw is expected to join forces with the Arrows team later this season. It is believed that he will not now set up his own team, but will take over the existing Arrows facilities. This will enable him to get up and running far quicker as well as having added benefits such as the FOCA travelling expenses (given to points scoring teams) a ready made work force of 120, which can be complemented by his own staff and he will also get Jos Verstappen.The new TWR/Arrows team could be operational by the time the GP circus moves into Europe.
The new Ferrari will revert back to its old gearbox for the two South American races. It is understood that the gearbox on Schumacher's car failed and severed one of his brake pipes. Schumacher has been testing a Ferrari F310 with the old gearbox this week. The transverse gearbox is likely to be back in place for the San Marino GP.
Taki Inoue has still not sorted out his sponsorship deals and is to be replaced again. This time the young Brazilian driver Tarso Marques will be in place of Inoue. Marques is expected to compete in the Brazilian and the Argentinian GPs. Inoue's replacement for Melbourne, Giancarlo Fisichella does not have enough sponsorship himself to compete in Brazil and Argentina.
Testing Limit Vetoed By Ferrari
The proposed limit on testing has been vetoed by Ferrari. Many of the teams were agreed that testing was too expensive for the smaller teams and wanted to limit the amount that they could do. The teams were considering a one month ban on testing at the end of each season, but Ferrari's Jean Todt would not agree saying that they wanted to test at Fiorino.
The proposed US GP is still not settled. Despite strong rumours that a deal had been reached to run the race at the newly built motor speedway it is now believed that Bernie Ecclestone wants the race run on the streets of Vegas.
