Intel’s New NetportExpress™ PRO/100 Print Server Makes Network Printing Connection to Fast Ethernet Workgroups Easy

Makes Network Printing “Wired for Management”

HILLSBORO, Ore., September 24, 1996 – Intel Corporation today announced it has applied its expertise in Fast Ethernet and desktop management to its new 10/100Mbps NetportExpress™ PRO/100 Print Server. The newest addition to Intel’s acclaimed NetportExpress PRO print server line, the PRO/100 model allows workgroups to easily and affordably connect and manage printers at 10Mbps Ethernet or 100Mbps Fast Ethernet. This 10/100 capability and the NetportExpress PRO/100 print server management features give customers a print server which will grow with their needs and reduce support costs.

“Network administrators want printing to be completely reliable and easy to manage,” said Mark Christensen, general manager of Intel’s Network Products Division. “As a result, we use the richest technologies to make network printing integrate with their changing environments.”

The Fast Ethernet print server rounds out Intel’s broad range of Fast Ethernet products that include the EtherExpress PRO/100 Adapters and the Express line of 100Mbps switches and hubs.

Demonstrated for the first time to the public at Networld + Interop in Atlanta, and again at Intel’s Wired for Management forum on September 24, 1996, the NetportExpress PRO/100 Print Server will be commercially available in October, 1996, and will list for $599. Evaluation units and trade-up programs are available for both end users and resellers.
