Intel operations are diversified throughout more than 30 countries around the globe. An Intel chip developed at a design center in Oregon, might be manufactured at a wafer fabrication facility (fab) in Ireland, packaged and tested in Malaysia, and then sold to a customer in Australia. Another chip might be designed in Japan, fabricated in Israel, packaged and tested in Arizona, and sold in China.

Albuquerque
The suburb of Rio Rancho is the location for Intel’s largest high volume wafer fabrication manufacturing site. Rio Rancho is home to three wafer fabrication facilities, including FAB 11, the world’s latest state-of-the-art chip manufacturing facility. Located 14 miles northwest of downtown Albuquerque and just one hour from Santa Fe, the Rio Rancho facilities make advanced Pentium® processor products.
ARIZONA

The community of Chandler about 25 miles south of Phoenix, is home to several Intel operations including a wafer fabrication facility and computer chip assembly and test operations. A new state-of-the-art wafer fabrication facility, FAB 12, is located a few miles away at Ocotillo. Arizona is also home to design and marketing operations for various Intel component products as well as a major North American distribution center for Intel products.
CALIFORNIA
Sacramento
In the foothills of the Sierra Nevada about 15 miles east of Sacramento is Intel’s Folsom, California Site. The Folsom Site serves as home to Intel’s Corporate Information Technology organization. Other groups here design and develop advanced microprocessor and peripheral products, and develop and market Intel’s flash memory products. Folsom is also home to Intel’s Americas Sales and Marketing operations.
Santa Clara
Located in the heart of the Silicon Valley about 45 miles south of San Francisco, the Santa Clara site is Intel’s Corporate headquarters and one of only two Intel locations worldwide for wafer fabrication process development. Santa Clara is home to several corporate organizations, including Marketing, Legal, Business Development, Sales, Planning and Logistics, and Human Resources. Engineering and design groups are located here, including the Mobile and Home Products Group and a portion of the Intel Architecture Laboratories. Santa Clara is also home to the Intel Museum, an attraction for visitors from around the world.
OREGON

The Portland suburbs of Hillsboro, Aloha, and Beaverton are home to Intel’s largest site worldwide with five major campuses and a variety of manufacturing, design, and engineering groups. Aloha is home to Intel’s second process development wafer fabrication facility, one of only two such facilities for Intel worldwide, and two wafer fabrication manufacturing facilities. Hillsboro and Beaverton are home to groups that produce and market a range of products from ProShare™personal conferencing products to PC Boards, network products, and supercomputers. Other groups include the Intel Architecture Laboratories, the Internetworking Group, the Pentium®Pro Processor Design Group. Oregon is also one of three Intel sites worldwide for systems manufacturing, where PC’s and motherboards are manufactured for Original Equipment Manufacturers. In addition, a new campus in Hillsboro will be the site for a state-of-the-art wafer fabrication development and manufacturing campus where engineers will work on future Intel chip designs and processes.
WASHINGTON
Seattle-Tacoma
Located about 50 miles south of Seattle, Intel’s newest site at DuPont, Washington is scheduled to begin operations in the Summer of 1996. It is the first new U.S. site for the company since 1985.
The DuPont site will be home to an advanced manufacturing operation where PC systems are manufactured for Original Equipment Manufacturers who market the computers under their own brand names. Eventually, the site will grow to be a combination of light manufacturing and research and development.

PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
Shanghai, China
Intel is building a new semiconductor assembly and test factory in Shanghai, scheduled to
be completed in 1997. In September of 1994, the company opened the Intel Architecture
Development Lab in Shanghai. The Lab's goal is to assist local firms in the development
of Chinese software applications on the Intel architecture.

Penang was the location of Intel's first manufacturing operation outside the U.S. It is home to component assembly and test facilities. Intel Penang also boasts the first research and development center in Malaysia with sophisticated VLSI design capability. Intel is currently building a computer board factory in Kulim Hi-Tech Partk about 30 miles from Penang. The new facility will begin producation in 1996 and will build motherboards and networking/communications boards for the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) market.

Ireland is Intel's sole manufacturing centre for Europe. The Leixlip, County Kildare complex plays a significant role in the company's continuing success. There are three factories onsite, with a fourth under construction:
ESSM - the European Site for Systems Manufacturing - consists of IR1, a motherboards assembly plant and IR3, a PC systems assembly plant. Fab 10 is a leading edge facility for the manufacture of semiconductor products, including the Pentium ® processor and the Pentium ® Pro processor. It is a 600,000 square foot facility. It includes a 60,000 square foot Class 1 Clean Room where the wafers are actually manufactured. "Class 1" means it is reckoned to be more than a thousand times cleaner than a hospital operating theatre. Fab 14, currently under construction, will be the world's leading factory for the manufacture of advanced logic products, beyond the current generations of Intel microprocessors.
Intel's investment in Ireland so far is worth approximately $1 billion and the company directly employs around 2,800 people. In addition, a further 800 people are employed onsite by companies providing services to Intel under long term contracts.

Intel's Swindon site serves as a marketing and support center for Intel Europe. It includes customer service, logistics, finance, and administrative functions, as well as the headquarters for a variety of European product groups.
ISRAEL
Intel has been active in Israel since 1974 and has expanded in the past two decades to encompass three sites: A Wafer Fabrication Plant in Jerusalem, a Development Center in Haifa, and a Regional Sales Office in Tel Aviv. Together these form one of the largest high tech companies in Israel. In 1996 will bring more expansion with the construction of Fab 18 in Kiryat Gat. Fab 18 will manufacture Flash Memory chips and is slated to start production in 1998. Intel Israel prides itself on its ability to quickly drive new products and technologies to market. Our products, which span almost all of Intel's businesses, include microprocessor chips, cache controllers, advanced networking chips, and software tools.
