and click the "Search Intel" icon, the Search Results Screen will list all documents that contain the word processors.
Foreign words and phrases may also be entered. For example, you can search our German documents for information on our "neuen Hochleistungsprozessors" by typing:
neuen Hochleistungsprozessors
If you enter multiple words, such as:
EPRO/10 Driver Installation
the Search Results Screen returns a list of documents that contain the words EPRO/10 AND Driver AND Installation. The resulting list will be shorter, because fewer documents contain all three of these words.
Hint: The more words you enter, the more focused your search becomes. (Of course if you enter a word that does not exist, your search results will not show any documents as a result!)
The Search Results Screen displays a list of documents that contain your chosen keywords ranked in order of how well they met the search criteria. To select and view a document, click the document's title. That will open a copy of the document with your keywords highlighted within the document.
The Results Screen also shows you the date that the document was created, it's size, the URL for the document, and a short excerpt of what the document contains.
Documents are ranked in the Search Results List according to a score of how close the search engine thinks the document will fit your request. This is based on a large number of factors that include the number of times the keywords or phrases appeared in the document, if they appeared in the title of the document, and how close they were to each other within the document.
To tell the search engine to search for a particular phrase, enclose the phrase in parentheses. Multiple word/phrase combinations should be separated by commas. For example, if you type:
automated, (Intel customer support)
this search for documents that contain the word automated AND the phrase Intel Customer Support.
The search engine will also accept boolean operators such as AND and OR. Each Boolean operator must be enclosed in angle brackets and the keywords must be in parentheses. For example:
<OR>(proshare, (Smart Video Recorder Pro))
will look for documents containing the word proshare OR the phrase Smart Video Recorder Pro, or both.
Hint: Remember that by default, all keywords are AND'ed together, so normally you will only need to use Boolean operators if you want to OR the words together.
The proximity search ranks the document by how close the words are to one another. For example:
Support <NEAR> services
will find documents containing the words Support and services, and rank them in order of how close the words are to each other.
The NOT operator excludes words or phrases from a search. For example:
(network adapters) <NOT> (tokenring)
allows you to find documents that include the words network AND adapters , and do NOT contain the word tokenring.
The following wildcard characters are supported by this search engine:
* - zero or more of any alphanumeric character (e.g. EPRO*)
? - any single alphanumeric character (e.g. version 1.?)
