jagged edge
An edge that is not smooth, showing a staircase effect, due to low resolution, color limits, and lack of antialiasing functions.

joystick
A handheld device that allows the user to direct activity using a small directional keypad or stick controller.
JPEG
A lossy 24 BIT compression format for pictures. Pictures converted to JPEG format will suffer some reduction in quality, although this often will not be noticed by the human eye.
jumper
A hardware connection which is adjustable by the user, often by moving a small pin on a motherboard or expansion card.
justification
The spacing used to determine whether words or chatacters are centered, aligned to the left, aligned to the right, or aligned on both sides.
