* First of all, new manga tankoubon release in February include:

* There is a "Fantasy RPG Illustration Exhibition" in the Museum of
Contemporary Art of Shiga Prefecture from Jan 5 to Feb 19. This
exhibition focuses on the art of the TV game culture and fantasy
illustrations with youngsters as targeted audiences. This is the first
time an exhibition as such being held in a public museum, and it sure
expands the genre in modern art.
* A report on Clamp's event "Clamp Christmas Carol". There are pictures of
the anime "Clamp in Wonderland" but the photos of the event are mostly
blurry. I wonder if it is because Puff might not have the rights to publish
those event photos. Anyway, during the 2-hour event, apart from
introduction of products and the Saturn "Rayearth" game, there was also a
fan interview session in which one of the questions Clamp was asked was
"List 10 reasons why you like Kuujou Shoutarou (from "Jojo's bizarre
adventure")" ^_^;
(NB: In an interview somewhere else, Clamp has said that they don't let their
photographs published in magazines because they don't want their parents to
worry.)
* Once again, "3x3 eyes" is animated into a 2nd series OVA, side titled
"Seima densetsu". There will be 3 volumes, and scheduled to be sold starting
this summer (I mean summer in Japan). 45 mins and 6500 yen each.
* OVA "Key, the Metal Idol" commemorates the 10th anniversary of Pony Canyon
OVA history. Looks like a long series, with the first series with 7 volumes,
and there is probably a second series to follow. Oh, and what is it about?
It is a story about "Key", a robot who is aware of being a robot. Her eyes
look very "boke".....
* A special on the shounen manga which finished last year, and they include:

* Itsuki Natsumi (OZ, Hanasakeru Seishounen) has a 60 page yomikiri manga
called "Hidari no Kei" in the coming Kimi to Boku magazine #3.
* There is this pretty H manga in Comic Nora which the author is "Asagiri
Yuu" but written in all kanji. Is she the shoujo mangaka Asagiri Yuu, or
is she someone else? The art-style looks very different, and the one in
Comic Nora is H as well.
* For those from Hong Kong: do you know there are doujinshi in Japan about
the "4 sky kings"? It's amazing that they can draw Jacky Cheung as cute
as Aaron Kwok. And, no, they are NOT yaoi stories! ^_^;
(NB: I have got one of these doujinshi. They are drawn by semi-pro doujinshi
mangaka and the quality is quite high. The stories are mainly comedy, and
they know a *lot* about HK entertainment industry (movie and singers, etc))

By the way, to vote for this poll, one has to either do an illustration of

* Some information on the vehicles our kakkoii Ten'ou Haruka rides in the
Sailor Moon anime:
- The yellow open sport car in episode 96 is a Toyota 2000GT, however,
it turns into white when appear again in episode 102. Both cars are the
same model. Maybe she has 2 of the same car, or she painted it white. ^_^
- There are at least 3 motorbikes she has rode on: a blue one, a blue with
yellow stripes, and a white with red and black. The white with black and
red one in episode 96 is a Yamaha/TZR 1989 model. Apparently motorbikes is
the hobby of one of the Sailor Moon staffs.

* "Niji no Natasha", a new manga by Yamato Waki, will be running in Mimi #3.
Setting in 1920s Shanghai and Japan, it is about a Russian girl, Natasha,
who wants to be a singer.
* After the finale of "Ao no fuuin", Shinohara Chie continues a new manga
called "Sora wa akai kawa no hotori", started in Shoujo Comic #3.
* Tsumugi Taku has a new yomikiri manga in Bessatsu Margaret #2. Kusunoki Kei
has one in Bu-ke #3 as well. Mamahara Elle starts a new manga "Warning" in
Asuka #3, and Kouga Yun has a yomikiri manga in For Mrs.
* Shounen Jump weekly #3.4 in Dec 20 reached 6,530,000 copies printed, which
breaks its own record of 6,485,000 copies last year.
* And "Slam Dunk" (which is running in Shounen Jump) tankoubon #21 and #22,
first print reached 2,500,000 copies. This broke the record of 2,388,000
first print copies of manga, held by "Chibimarukochan" #7 in 1991.
* The classic violent fighting shounen manga in the 80s, "Hokuto no ken" or
"Fist of the Northern Stars" will be made into a live action movie! Casting
include foriegn and Japanese actors.
* Hanawa Kazuichi (author of "Tensui" in Afternoon) is arrested for possessing
illegal firearms. It was said that he owns them for hobby ..... yeah, sure.
