Heinrich Weber was born in Heidelberg. His main work was in algebra and number theory. He is best known for his outstanding text Lehrbuch der Algebra published in 1895.

Although Weber tried hard to connect the various theories even fundamental concepts such as a field and a group are only seen as tools and not properly developed as theories in their own right.
