Tacquet taught at the colleges of Louvain and Antwerp from 1644, having studied mathematics and theology at Louvain. His most important work Cylindricorum et Annularium , on cylinders and rings, followed the approach of Valerio.

Tacquet wrote many good elementary mathematics texts. His work had a considerable effect on Pascal.
