Parseval

Marc-Antoine Parseval des Chênes

Died: 16 Aug 1836 in Paris, France

A royalist, Parseval was imprisoned in 1792 and had to flee from France when Napoleon ordered his arrest for publishing poetry against the regime.

He had only 5 publications, the second containing the well known Parseval's theorem. This was used by Lacroix and Poisson and was to become important in the theory of Fourier series.
