John Maior


Born: 1469 in Gleghornie (near Haddington), Scotland
Died: 1550 in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland

Maior worked in Paris and St Andrews where he taught logic and theology. He was interested in mathematics and logic and applied these to physics writing an important text on the infinite Propositum de infinito in 1506. Maior was also important for spreading the work of Bradwardine and Swineshead in his teaching.
