Simon Antoine Jean Lhuilier

Lhuilier wrote a textbook to be used in Polish schools after winning a competition with a proposal. He became a tutor to the Polish Royal Family. He then held chairs of mathematics in Germany and Switzerland.

His work on Euler's polyhedra formula and exceptions to that formula were important in the development of topology.
