Le Paige studied at Liège where he attended lectures by Catalan. After graduating he was appointed to Liège where he became professor and remained there the whole of his career.

Le Paige worked on the theory of algebraic forms initiated by Boole and developed by Cayley, Sylvester, Hermite, Clebsch and others. In particular he studied the geometry of algebraic curves and surfaces.
