Died: 3 Aug 1922 in Susice, Czechoslovakia

Mathias Lerch studied at Prague, then at Berlin where he was taught by Weierstrass, Kronecker and Fuchs. He was professor at Brno, then Masaryk University in Brno. He wrote 238 papers mostly on analysis and number theory. Some of his work is fundamental in modern operator calculus.
