Francais Francais was the brother of Jacques Francais and much of his work was published after his death by his brother who added to it in a way to make the contribution of each hard to distinguish. He was professor at Colmar in 1791, then Strasbourg in 1792 and finally at Mainz.

He worked on partial differential equations and projectiles in a resistant medium. After this he did work praised by Legendre, Lagrange, Lacroix and Biot but published nothing further but, as described above, his brother published much of his work after his death.
