Pierre Fatou worked in Paris. He studied the motion of a planet in a resistant medium. He also studied Taylor series and the Lebesgue integral. Fatou was interested in rational functions of a complex variable. Perhaps Fatou's most famous result is that a harmonic function u > 0 in a ball has a nontangential limit almost everywhere on the boundary.
