About This Release ================== This is a solid and polished rewrite of the original `Zoom' 4.2 program. Many (lots of!) bugs have been fixed and new features added. Unlike the previous release this revision has survived intensive beta testing across the last few months. The file format `Zoom' outputs has changed substancially and can no longer be decompressed by older `Zoom' releases. Nevertheless, `Zoom' 5.3a will still read and decompress older style archives. - This release is being distributed in the form of a self-extracting archive file. To obtain the distribution files, enter the Shell/CLI, type `Zoom53a.SFX' and press return, the following files will be created in the current directory: Release Date: 13-Dec-91, 19:49 Zoom (CRC = $9466EC9D, Size = 80032 Bytes) Zoom.info CRC (CRC = $4F5177B9, Size = 4104 Bytes) Zoom.doc (Size = 30370 Bytes) Use the CRC utility to verify if the `Zoom53a.SFX' file is in correct state (enter `CRC Zoom53a.SFX' and press return). The WRAP checksums of all executable files (Zoom and CRC) should be zero. For those who need to write additional file integrity checking tools, I have provided a separate tool, it is included (along with the `C' source code) in the Support directory: ZoomCheck (CRC = $A9032803, WRAP = $268F2443, Size = 9832 Bytes) ZoomCheck.c (CRC = $A6D28603, WRAP = $321DE33E, Size = 9801 Bytes) Release Date: 13-Dec-91, 19:54 Zoom53a.SFX (CRC = $5B204090, WRAP = $C09BCD04, Size 73704 Bytes) If the checksums do not match the given samples, the archive has been accidentally corrupted or deliberately modified! If you don't trust the checksums, send me a letter or electronic mail (adresses listed below) and ask for the `factory checksums': Olaf Barthel Brabeckstrasse 35 D-3000 Hannover 71 Federal Republic of Germany Z-Netz: O.BARTHEL@A-Link-H Usenet: o.barthel@a-link-h.zer.sub.org cbmvax.commodore.com!cbmehq!sourcery!olsen
