INSIGHT SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT *(tm) From: Greg Epley Subject: Product Descriptions Date: 06/08/87 ----------------------------------------------------------------- (Unless otherwise indicated, all products are written in TDI Modula-2 ^(tm) for the Commodore-Amiga +(tm) A500, A1000 and A2000 computers and operate under the Workbench +(tm) or CLI on the standard system package with Version 1.2 of the system software. A printer and/or external drive are optional.) ----------------------------------------------------------------- COMPARE 1.2.0 (Version 1.2.0 available NOW) An updated version of COMPARE 1.0. The fastest file comparison utility short of assembly language - benchmarked at least twice as fast as any comparison utility we've found in C. Works only from the CLI. Includes an AmigaDOS (tm) style command template, recognizes the DOS CTRL-C break to stop the comparison, and ends the comparison automatically if more than 10 differences are detected. The source code is available for $6.00. -------------------------------------------- ERA 1.5.0 (Version 1.5.0 available NOW) Date/Time/Calendar utility. Uses proportional gadgets for easy date/time setting, displays the date and time in easy to read formats like "Thursday, May 21, 1987" and "10:35 PM", and displays a monthly calendar with the date highlighted in a complementary color. In SET mode, you use the proportional gadgets to set the date and time. The calendar, date, and time are constantly updated. After the date and time are set, selecting USE mode runs the date/time/calendar in real time, and the current settings are saved in the Workbench +(tm) "s" directory file, "last-set". You can still use this utility as a handy calendar, with the Amiga (tm) 2000 or a clock attached to your Amiga +(tm). The source code is available for $10.00. -------------------------------------------- SIZZLERS 1.7.0 (Version 1.7.0 available NOW) An updated version of SIZZLERS 1.0. We call this our "graphics hors d'oeuvres" special. Has 7 infinitely random graphic routines which produce some dazzling designs. Not only pretty to look at, but the source code acts as a comprehensive sample of how to use screens, windows, gadgets, requesters, changing the pointer shape, and Amiga +(tm) graphics primitives for you Modula-2 programmers out there. Instructions are included for dumping the screen to the printer or saving in an IFF compatible format. These two options are not integral to the program; rather, you are given the option of using your favorite printer dump utility (Version 1.2 of the system software Extras' disk has a graphic dump program) and IFF save utility (we have SaveILBM). A pause function is included to freeze the screen for these functions. The program runs mostly off the function keys but some mouse input is required. Runs from the CLI or Workbench +(tm). The source code is available for $8.00. -------------------------------------------- SEEK 1.0.0 (expected 07/87) A disk cataloger. We've seen several PD catalogers and they could stand lots of improvement. We had planned to release a disk cataloger earlier, but felt the market wasn't right. Well, that's changed now, and we're ready to blow the others out of the water! Uses the standard Intuition interface and runs from the Workbench +(tm) or CLI. We are undecided on the release of the source code at this time. -------------------------------------------- (game) (expected 10/87) A combination of Othello, Checkers, Chess, and Tic-Tac- Toe, 3 skill levels, and 3 player options (including a fairly smart computer player), makes this a game that you won't soon grow tierd of. Unlike many strategy games we've seen, this one doesn't taunt you if you lose and beat you every time on the easiest level. The game board is displayed perspectively in 3D and includes digitized stereo sound effects. We hope to release this product commercially, so the source code will not be available. -------------------------------------------- (game) (expected 01/87) An unusual out-of-this world, off-the-wall (literally) form of the popular "breakout" style game. This one uses a laser and reflective ball in true 3D. You've got to see this to believe it - and we're not just saying that to hook you - this time it's TRUE! We're still working on some of the details so we can't really tell you how it will work. Watch for further details. The source code is available for indicated products by sending a check for the given amount, along with a disk and postage-paid mailer.
