The 'A' & 'B' in the left top corner of the directory displays, highlight to show which directory is the current operating directory. All action is relative to this status. This highlight can be changed by file selection, slide bar adjustment or clicking on the left or right area of the screen. This is for speed and ease of use, and will not mess you up! Example: If 'B' is highlighted and you hit COPY or MOVE, all of the highlighted files & directories in the 'B' dir will go to the 'A' dir or vice versa, most of the other operations deal only with the highlighted directory. While DiskMan is doing something, clicking anywhere on the screen aborts further operation, leaving untouched files highlighted. This may also happen if DiskMan encounters an error. (give it some time to stop though). The 'A' or 'B' may change to a 'P' if the disk is write-protected. If the disk is deprotected then reinserted, the 'P' will change back after the next button operation. The title bar is for displaying errors,operation status, and normally displays, on the left, free memory in the 'A' disk, and the volume name of the 'A' disk, in the center the free memory of the system, and on the right, the name of the 'B' disk and it's free memory. The two boxes below the title bar are directory string gadgets, entering a directory path name and hitting return will get the directory and display it in the directory window below that gadget. Normally the highlighted directory string gadget is always ready for input. The file names are white, directory names are red, and protected files are greenish. This program is not for the memory conscious! It uses a screen of 640 x 408 x 3(planes) devided by 8(bytes). In other words around 100K for the screen. This is mainly for more view and concentration on the directories. How to use Disk Man: Getting a directory ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Double-click on a directory name in either window (previously highlighted or not) and it will be placed in the same window. -OR- After clicking on a directory,(previously highlighted or not) quickly click on the opposite side of the screen and it will be displayed in that window. -OR- Enter a directory name in the A or B directory string gadgets. -OR- Select from Directory Buttons described below. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Directory Buttons ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- DF0: These put a directory in the highlighted window. DF1: DF2: DF3: -changeable with CONFIG VD0: -changeable with CONFIG DH0: -changeable with CONFIG RAM: PARENT Gets the parent of currently displayed directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAKEDIR Creates a directory. (Changing path is permissable). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Buttons ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALL Selects all files and directories in highlighted directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CLEAR De-selects all files & directories in highlighted directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- BYTE Adds the size of all selected files in highlighted directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHOW Shows all selected picture files using any show utility. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- READ Displays all selected files in ASCII or HEX format. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT Calls a text editor to edit selected file(s). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- PRINT Calls a Printer Utility to print selected files. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- DELETE Deletes all selected files & directories in highlighted directory. {{{Warning}}} This deletes everything in selected directories! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- RENAME Renames all selected files & dirs in highlighted directory. (Changing path is permissable). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- RUN Runs all selected files in highlighted directory, with requested argument. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- COPY Copies all selected files & directories in highlighted directory to the other directory. If 'A' and 'B' are the same directory, it puts a .BAK on the end of the files copied. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- MOVE Renames or 'moves' all selected files & dirs in highlighted directory to the other directory. If the other directory is on another disk, the files & directories will be copied and the originals will be deleted, but only if it was successful. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEWCLI Opens a new CLI. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOCK Locks (Protects) all selected files in highlighted directory to R-E- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNLOCK Unlocks all selected files in highlighted directory to RWED ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONFIG Change configuration. All of these commands (except Arc x and Arc a) may be used for just about any program which uses a filename for an argument. Currently these will accept up to 7 chars and may cause problems with over 7, If the name of the program is too big, rename it! VD0: DF3:, and DH0: must not have a space in front of them. Commands may be centered by adding spaces in front to make them look better. This file is written in your 'devs' directory and can be copied to other WorkBench's or deleted. Whatever you use here, should be in your C: directory so DiskMan can run them when you use them. Selecting the CANCEL button will stop the configuration and the changes will be remembered, but won't be saved. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archives Menu ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archive Archives all selected files in highlighted directory to the archive name entered upon request. (Changing path is permissable). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arc Extract Extracts all selected files in highlighted directory to the path entered upon request (hit return for the current directory). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arc List Lists all selected '.ARC' files in highlighted directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zoo-ive Archives all selected files & directories in highlighted directory to the Zoo archive name entered upon request. (Changing path is permissable). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zoo Extract Extracts all selected '.zoo' files in highlighted directory to the path entered upon request (hit return for the current directory).
